This Friday Feb. 2nd is Groundhog Day!

You may feel like Bill Murray today in the cult classic 90's film as Kaitlyn is going to give you another practice packet on how to make library accounts in sierra.

A few important things to remember when creating an account in sierra:
1. the expiration date should be set for 1 year from the day you make the account
2. names should be entered in as last name, first name
3. university ID is the one that has mc at the end, and barcode is just the university ID without the mc

As always Kaitlyn and Noreen are here to help you, feel free to ask them any questions that you may have!

Jan. 23rd is "National Handwriting Day"

That means that this is the perfect time for a reminder! If there is anything that you need Kaitlyn or Noreen to know please leave us a note. There should always be some form of scrap paper at the desk so please leave us a note if there is some thing that you think we should know. For example: A fine on someones account, if the library is out of a certain supply, if sierra did something unusual, or anything you want us to know in general.

So please celebrate this holiday today, and every day when needed! 😄

Insight is now @MC!

As you may have noticed when opening up internet explorer it no longer defaults to Insight, rather it takes you to the new website @MC. Please take some time during your shift today to look around the new site and begin to learn where things are now.

1. Where is the employee directory?
2. How do you get to workday?
3. How do you get to the HR page?
4. Can you get to the library page from @MC? If so how?
5. Where can you see the emergency response plans?

Please talk with Kaitlyn or Noreen if you have any issues navigating the new site or if you have any questions or concerns!

Please take your time when checking books in and out in Sierra!

Hi everyone, please be sure that you are not rushing when you are checking materials in and out. More and more frequently books and laptops are being billed to patrons when they were returned on time, they were just not checked in correctly (JUST BECAUSE THE SCANNER BEEPS DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN THAT THE BARCODE WAS SCANNED). There is no rush when checking materials in, please be sure that you are taking your time and the materials are actually checking in, and that the scanner is not just beeping.

Please be especially mindful when checking in OhioLINK materials and laptops! Make sure that the materials check in and you fill out all necessary paperwork with the item.

Please let Kaitlyn know if you have any questions or concerns.

New Year, New Policy!

Hello and welcome back! We just wanted to let you all know that dry-erase board markers will now have to be checked out. This is to ensure that the markers do not go missing and that they are not left open and set to dry out.

What you need to know:

1. The bags of markers are located in the same drawer as the calculators

2. There are 3 markers to a bag (PLEASE MAKE SURE THERE ARE 3 MARKERS WHEN YOU CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT THE BAG)

3. Make sure that all markers have their caps securely on when you check the bags back in

4.If a student says that one of the markers is dry, let Kaitlyn know and she will replace it

5. These are technically "Closed Reserve" items which means that just like the books on closed reserve they check out for 3 hours at a time and they can not leave the library

As always Please let Kaitlyn or Noreen know if you have any questions!
