FINAL EXAMS ARE 4/30/18-5/4/18

Finals are here, and we know this time in the semester can be especially stressful. We here at the library would like for you to take a few minutes and be reminded of a few things.
  1. Finals are hard, but don't hurt yourself studying for them.
  2. Make sure you take some time to decompress. (It's good for you, it really is)
  3. Classes are hard, but you have worked hard this whole semester. Now is your time to show off what you have learned, which is A LOT!
  4. With summer break right around the corner take some time for fun! (Yes, even if you have a summer job...or 3) This will keep you from being bored and missing all of us here at the MCHS Library too much.
  5. With that being said, doing nothing can also be really, really nice.

  6. Most importantly, never forget...

Please Do NOT Leave your Email and Personal Pages Open on the Circulation Computers

It is perfectly fine for you all to access your email and other sites while at work in the library. However when your shift is over PLEASE log out of your personal email and close all pages and documents that you had opened. This is to keep your personal information safe!

The same rules apply for students who use the computers to print in color. Always remind them to log out of their email and all other sites that they may have opened.

Finally even if it is not your assigned cleaning task for the day, please take a look at the circulation desk area during your shift and clean and straighten it if the area looks messy. Also when you leave at the end of your shift please push in your chair and take one last look around that the circulation area is neat and tidy.

As always your safety is our #1 concern, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to talk to Kaitlyn or Noreen.

Nursing Certification Collection

There is a new part of our collection that you all should be aware of, because nurses are going to be asking for them more frequently! The books will be located below the hold shelf, next to the copier on shelves marked Nursing Certification Books.

There are a few individual specialties in this new collection, and they are as follows: Adult Critical Care Nursing, Inpatient Obstetric Nursing, Maternal Newborn Nursing, Neuroscience Nursing, & Pain Management Nursing. The books are in call number order, not in the order of each collection.

In order to make it easier for everyone to see the print books for a given specialty, Noreen created a list of Print resources for each of the specialties listed above. These lists are kept in a bright green folder at the beginning of the shelf and is marked "Certification Readings Shelf List."  It will help us if a nurse comes in wanting all the books for a given specialty. There are electronic books for these collections, but if there is no print copy as well, the electronic title is not listed in the folder.

A comprehensive list of all print books as well as electronic books can be found here:https://library.mchs.com/nurses/nursing-certifications
Please take a minute during your shift and familiarize yourself with this page.

If a nurse is looking to access the e-books please make sure they have a library account and then direct them to the above site.

When checking in these books they all have a pop-up message in Sierra saying "Shelve Behind Desk" to remind you of their home.  When users are searching in the online catalog, they will see the note "Ask at Circ Desk" just like they would for an ACLS or PALS book.

Please let Noreen or Kaitlyn know if you have any questions or concerns!
