Reminder to Enter Statistics
During Summer Term, it is easy to forget to enter statistics because we don't have as many clients. It is still very important!! These statistics help show a need for student workers at the Library.
Remember to enter interactions in LibAnalytics statistics program, EVERY TIME YOU INTERACT with a client - check-out/in (this includes check-ins that are left in the basket), phone calls, directions, referrals, laptops, etc.
- LibAnalytics should ALWAYS be open on the front desk computers. If you arrive to work and it is not open, ask Noreen or Allison, or refer to the TVs & Computers section of the codex for the URL and login information.
- You should always enter MCW as YOUR LOCATION and select the appropriate categories for the client. You will probably most often be using MCCN Student, in which case, the client affiliation is MCCN and your location is MCW.

Advice from Your Librarians
on Finals Week
- "Don't cheat! Life will depend on your decision in the future." Stevo
- "Take time to decompress." Kaitlyn
- "Don't change your answer! When in doubt, leave the answer blank and come back to it at the end." Noreen
Most of all, get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy meal!
We wish you all the best on your finals and a happy & healthy Holiday Break!

Calculator Checkouts
The sign-out sheet for calculators is a bit different. Besides date, calculator number and name, we have columns for Time In and Time Out along with Staff Initials.
When checking out, remind the student that the calculator is due back by closing of the same day (like the laptops). Leave a note for Kaitlyn if any are not returned. We hope this will help them from "walking away."
Calculators are still in the same drawer, but there is a box for them within that drawer.

Easier Checkout - Scanning Badges
Scanning a Mount Carmel Student Badge will bring up the student's Sierra account (if one exists). No more fumbling with a last name and trying to find the correct person.
Here is how you do it:
- Click in box where you type person's name
- Point Scanner and press button at Red Barcode on front of Badge (see picture below)
- The client's Library account will open
- Checkout items(s) as usual

HOW TO HANDLE A CODE GRAY
Besides flowers and sunshine, Spring weather can be scary. If you are working an evening shift and the loudspeaker announces CODE GRAY, here are tips on what to do.
If a Tornado Watch is announced, conditions are right for a tornado to occur. Do the following:
- Monitor weather
- Close windows, curtains, and blinds in occupied areas
- Test flashlights (in top drawer -- above TV Remotes)
If a Tornado Warning is announced, conditions for a tornado have been sighted or indicated by weather radar. Do the following:
- Close all doors
- DO NOT take the elevator
- Take flashlights
- Move all Library visitors away from windows and to the College basement or interior hallways
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding these instructions. Also, refer to the Emergency Response Codes & Info at Front Desk.

Library Closing Reminder
Just a reminder of Closing Procedures:
- Log off both front desk computers (do not shut down)
- LOCK laptop cabinets - we are unlocking in the morning and putting the keys away, so you shouldn't need to worry about that. If the key is out, please put it in the glass mug in the workroom (let me know if you don't know where this is). The small key is for the padlock and the bigger one marked "C" is for the cabinet where the Chromebooks are kept. Normally, this one is locked, but please check it every night.
- Turn off 4 TVs - 2 on 3rd floor, 2 on 4th floor, remotes are in drawer with headphones
- Turn off stained glass window display on 4th floor
- Push in chairs - at tables & computers on 3rd & 4th floors
- Turn off lights IF no one is in the Library - they can be left on if their are clients here working
- Turn off workroom lights and shut workroom door - it locks automatically
Let Kaitlyn or Noreen know if you have any questions. Thanks!
